Laying Low

Posted by Tim

I haven't posted much lately, as is obvious, as I've been pretty much incapacitated due to stomach pain.  Not sure what was really going on but I haven't been feeling 100%.  I forgot what the bike feels like at this point and haven't done anything physical in nearly a week.

Yesterday I went with Sean and the family to church in a Valencia high school.  It was a decent service about contribution to the world vs. consumption and mirrors a previous post about giving.  I'm sure there was no accident I was there and heard the message once again on this trip.  I really do get to find out how I want to give to this world.  I've done the consumption and accumulation thing already and that without giving is certainly dead.

I got together with Angela again yesterday and we went to the Getty Museum off the 405.  I've seen it from the road for years but this was my first trip to the museum.  It was amazing with impressive architecture and amazing views the LA skyline.  I'm always blown away by views and I could just sit there staring out into the distance for hours.

It's not hard to imagine all the amazing views from all the houses in the Hollywood Hills and all around LA.  I guess if you are going to have to live in all the craziness it would be nice to at least enjoy this amazing view.

We walked around the garden and checked out all the interesting plants and flowers.  Angela getting a whiff:

It didn't really matter where you looked there was a picture.

This was an impression in the tile.  Amazing detail throughout the museum.

The energy of the place was incredibly calming and after walking around for about an hour I felt noticeably calmer.  Not sure the history of the place but I'd like to read up a little on the land and the idea around the design.

We only had an hour there as it closed at 6 so we didn't have time to eat.  We decided to go to Gladstone's in Malibu as I'd eaten there 14 years ago and wanted to go back.  We got a table at the window after I smooth talked the host and dinner was amazing.

I had a great time hanging out with Angela and I really got to know her a lot better than our Hollywood club outing last week.  She's a really cool girl and beautiful and if situations were different, who knows?

The week in LA was quite eventful and I got to see it all.  From the family life with Sean in the Valley to the Hollywood clubs, church in Valencia, bike ride in Pasadena and the Malibu excursion, it was all great.  The stomach issue totally sucked but I think it kept me in balance and slowed me down for a minute.

Thanks so much Sean D and Leanne for your hospitality and for making me feel so welcome.  I'm grateful we've stayed friends all these years Sean and it was great to get to see you again for 15 minutes!  Inside joke.  You guys are doing an amazing job raising your kids and setting a positive example for both them and others like me as well.  I don't know how you guys juggle everything.  Wow.  Thanks again.  Much love.
