Went to the horse track for the first time in my life today. A friend invited me and we went into the nice lounge area upstairs. I bet on 3 races and lost each time. I didn't really know what the hell I was doing but I was advised to bet on the jockeys. The next race after receiving this advice, on which I didn't bet, the top 2 jockeys went 1-2. Go figure. After that the strategy didn't do much, however. I only lost $6 so no big deal. At the pizza shop afterwards a guy that has been betting for 20 years said it has been a tough year and the favorites are only winning about 20% of the time. Tough business and not one I plan to get into. It was fun overall and met a few cool people.
I haven't ridden all week. I just haven't felt like it and after the pain of the crit last week I just haven't been motivated to go out and pound it or to train at all for that matter. I'm going to play tennis near La Jolla tomorrow morning and hope my shoulder loosens up. There is a BBQ with the cycling team tomorrow as well which should be fun. I don't even feel like a rider at this time, however.
I really want to get a cheap, small camera to take places like today at the track. It was beautiful from the top of the venue overlooking all the hills in the distance.
Not much new on the job front. Had a phone interview today that went decently well, very cookie cutter questions trying to weed out the undesirables by the HR manager. Sales job for technology product for fleet vehicles. Man the weeks are flying by. On one hand it seems like it is Friday all the time and on the other I haven't even been here 2 months. Kind of paradoxical in my mind as time seems to be flying like I've been here 4 months or something. Life is simply flying by.
