I went on 2 interviews yesterday. The first was with a company in La Jolla for a bookkeeper position. The company does $150K plus kitchens and baths for high end clientele in the area. I don't think it went really well as I conveyed an interest to be doing more than just a bookkeeper role in 2 years. Not sure if that was good or not. The second interview was with a tile company in Sorrento Valley. Great area but she really wanted someone with more B2B sales experience but she was impressed with my background and said she would keep my info on file. Whatever that means.
Since I was relatively close to downtown I decided to go check it out. I went back to the Hyatt to check out the amazing view. It was open this time and I got some cool pics. I love a great view.
I then went to a few malls to check them out. A lot of the malls here are outdoor and I wasn't really impressed with the stores. After going to North Park it is hard to find anything close. I bought some Old Navy shorts I had been looking for since Houston and finally found them for 50% off!
On the way home I went by the beach but the sun was pretty much blocked with clouds. Still always nice to be at the beach near sunset. I could go every day.
Today I went on the famous Swami's Wednesday ride. I was a little nervous but I've been putting in a little riding so I figured what the heck. This is a ride with pros usually and tends to be fast. We rolled out steady and when we hit Camp Pendleton they started lighting it up. We were rolling at least 30 for 30 minutes or so. It was a lot of fun and I managed to hang on. I tried sprinting with them but didn't know where it was. I was also spinning out of my 12 and need to put an 11 on soon.
Really cool ride. Michellie Jones, Ironman champion 06 was there along with John Howard, the legend who I believe still holds the fastest speed on a bicycle. Something around 150 mph! There were also a few Jelly Belly guys mixing it up. Total ride was 65 miles from the house and back.
Other than that I'm trying to maintain some semblance of positivity in my mind. It is a little hard at times as my natural inclination is to be worried about something and slightly annoyed. We'll see. I also went to the La Costa resort and the Four Seasons resort right near the place I'm living. Typical HR screeners that try and talk candidates out of working there.
This weekend I'm going to do some social things through a few meetup groups I joined. Try to get out and meet some people.
