Got to Taos fairly early and drove up to the ski lifts. It was incredibly barren and kind of like an old ghost town. I decided to just hike up the jeep road towards Wheeler Peak. I was having trouble from the get go as 8500 to 9000 feet just like that is hard to get used to. On the way up 3 van loads full of SMU Taos students drove by. I can't get away from Dallas. They are in an adventure class where they get school credit for spending 2 weeks in Taos hiking, kayaking, camping, etc. Where were those classes when I was in school.
On the way to Taos.

After about an hour and a half I made it back to the car and headed back into town. I called and reserved a room at the Best Western as I really wanted to eat at Lambert's, a place I ate 8 years ago when in town skiing with Mike.
The food was incredible as I remember. I started thinking about how much I love to go out to a nice restaurant and having a great meal. I agonized over the price of everything as usual and had trouble letting myself really enjoy it. I'm definitely ready to let go of my poverty mentality and start making things happen again. I just love nice hotels, nice restaurants, spas, and all that touristy shit. I know I'm a walking contradiction. I just love getting to the room and setting up and checking it all out.
